Mr. + Mrs. Gilett

Mr. + Mrs. Gilett

September 4, 2021 is a day I won't soon forget. The forecast called for a gorgeous fall day, warm enough that no one would be getting goose bumps and the skies would have the perfect amount of cloud coverage. Upon arriving at the bride's parent's house, like any Wedding day, the excitement in the air was unmistakable. Even more so because this was family. Vanessa is my husband's cousin, and Leif is good friends with my brother in law so I knew today would be a extra special.
So many laughs, stories, and emotions were shared as I watched and captured the ladies get ready. Before too long it was time to head off the to ceremony, a beautiful set up over looking the Clear Hills on the back of the property. In true western fashion Vanessa, and her bridesmaids, arrived to the ceremony space in a covered wagon. The ring bearer and flower girl made it down the aisle with no hiccups and the ceremony began. Lead by the bride's grandpa, the ceremony included hand written vows, a special prayer and a unity rope braiding.
Lot's of congratulations and excitement once the happy couple was announced. The receiving line followed the ceremony and then we moved into the formal photos. My goodness, I could have spent the whole day photographing these two amongst the rolling hills, maybe next time ;). They choose one of my smaller packages so I was able to sit and enjoy the reception as a guest for the most part, which is something that doesn't happen to often. Photos of the cake cutting and first dance were essential to the new couple so I knew I would capture those but I happened to peek outside between the two events and knew we needed to get outside. The clouds had parted slightly allowing the sun to peek out for the most beautiful sunset! Thankfully the reception space was right next to a field so we hope over the pavement into the ditch where I took some of my favourite golden hour photos to date. We were maybe outside for 10 minutes, then it was back inside to have the couples first dance, and then onto the rest of the party!
I know I'm not really suppose to have a favourite Wedding, but this one is definitely at the top of my list! Congratulations again Mr. + Mrs. Gilett, so excited for you both for all adventures that marriage brings!
